Legend of the White Snake Series

A series that depicts one of China’s four great folktales, the Legend of the White Snake. This myth tells the story of a snake spirit, Bai Suzhen, that had fallen in love with a human man, Xu Xian. She goes through great lengths to revive him after a scheming monk, Fa Hai, attempts to break their marriage apart. Through her heroism and devotion, she is able to retrieve a miraculous immortal herb guarded by the disciples of old man of the south pole. She finally saves him, and the pair are reunited. Each illustration was made with watercolor and color pencil.
